Go Green with a Coleman Kayak

Paddling with the new Coleman Kayak, which is now sold under the Sevylor brand name, is the greenest way to spend time on the water if you want to own your own boat.

You might think that paddling in any canoe or kayak is a pretty green thing to do, and it is certainly a lot better than boating in motorized boats that use fuel. However, if you are transporting your kayak to the water with a car, van or truck, here is a way you can boat even greener.

The greenest way to kayak is with an inflatable Sevylor QuikPak. Ordinary inflatable kayaks are fairly light weight and compact compared to hardshell kayaks, but you still need a car to get them from your home to the water. The QuikPaks offer a whole new way to transport your kayak.

The newly designed Coleman Kayak, now called a Sevylor QuikPak, solves a big problem for people who like to kayak in remote places. The QuikPak folds up into a backpack so they can be carried anywhere a person can walk to!

This new design also solves a problem for people who either do not have or do not want cars. The Sevylor QuikPak inflatable kayak can be taken on any kind of public transportation! Bus, train, subway or ferry, these kayaks can go with you anywhere!

We all know that public transportation is our future, especially in urban areas, but there are always things we love or need to do that require a car. Until now kayaking with your own kayak was one of these things, but it is no longer!

While kayak renting is a great way to kayak responsibly, it's not for everyone. Renting is great fun especially for families, but for those of us who like to go to more remote places kayak renting doesn't really work.

The most beautiful lakes and streams are that way precisely because there are no recreation facilities like boat renting nearby. Renting would defeat the very purpose for many.

There is something about owning your own kayak and being independent from the recreation facilities at popular locations. Public transportation can take you to some very beautiful places that are a stone's throw from a gorgeous lake or stream.

You don't need a car, you can live a greener life and now you can take your boat with you. If you can get there by public transportation or by foot, you can get there with a Sevylor QuikPak which has replaced the Coleman Kayak.

It takes a lot to puncture the Sevylor Fish Hunter which is made of heavy-duty 32-gauge PVC.You can fish in it just like in a regular boat and not have to worry about punctures.

Do like to get out in your boat with your dogs? Even big dogs will not puncture this boat easily. These boats really hold up!

Guaranteed not to leak!

Sevylor makes great inflatables. This top brand uses an exclusive 'Airtight System' only available with a Sevylor. In addition, the 'Double-Lock Stop Valves' stop any unintentional loss of air while inflating and, remember, Sevylor inflatable boats are certified by the NMMA .

The 12 Foot Fish Hunter

The Sevylor Fish Hunter 360 is a 12' boat that can hold up to 1,200 lbs. For this reason Sevylor calls it a 6-person boat. However, in terms of space, it can accommodate 2-3 people with fishing gear comfortably.

Most people prefer the 360 over the somewhat smaller 280, but if you boat or fish alone, the 280 is just fine at 9' 2" in length. It is also the perfect first boat for kids - the ideal gift!

Things people tend to use with a Fish Hunter

  • an electric or re-chargeable battery run air-pump inflating and deflating.

  • Large duffel to store it in.

Coleman Kayak

Coleman Kayak is a Sevylor
Kayaking is easy and fun with a Coleman Kayak. There have been some big changes at Coleman. If you've tried to buy a Coleman kayak, but couldn't, that is because Coleman now sells all of its inflatable kayaks under the Sevylor brand.

Interesting things occur when brands merge and at Coleman they've made major changes to their range of inflatable kayaks and canoes.  Perhaps the most interesting development for kayakers is the release of the 'grab and go' Sevylor QuikPaks. If you're the sort of kayaker that likes to get away from it all, this inflatable kayak folds up neatly into a backpack so that you can take it just about anywhere.

Why Get an Inflatable Kayak?
Owning any inflatable kayak has many advantages. Here are 3 good reasons to get yours:
  1. They are easy to take anywhere because they're lightweight and compact. The QuikPak can even be carried on your back! You can find out a lot more about the Coleman Kayak / Sevylor QuikPaks here
  2. Inflatables are perfect for city or apartment dwellers who wish to own their own kayak. They don't take up lots of space so they can be stored inside the home.
  3. Beginners and experienced kayakers really enjoy inflatables for their ease of use and stability on the water.
7 Points to consider when deciding on an inflatable kayak
  1. Some very cheap inflatables are made of un-reinforced vinyl. These are fun in a pool, but grim anywhere else. If you need more than a pool toy, try to find Hypalon-coated fabric tubes or encapsulated air-cells. These inflatable boats are more ridgid and easier to use because they stand up to higher air pressure. They are more robust too.
  2. Inflatable kayaks are more stable as compared to solid kayaks, but they are not nearly as good on flat water so make sure the one you have is fitted with rudders or perhaps skegs for better tracking.
  3. Some people prefer a 'sit inside' kayak, while some like a 'sit on top. Take your pick. A 'sit on top' kayak is wonderful for fishing!
  4. Do you kayak by yourself or tandem? You can get a 1 person or 2 person inflatable kayak.
  5. Sometimes the paddles that come with inflatables may not be what people wish to use. Consider purchasing your preferred paddle separately.
  6. Try replacing the foot pump supplied with inflatables with a battery run pump. These are affordable and simple to use.
  7. Check that the inflatable you choose has a repair kit. In the event it doesn't, get one and always have it with you. Inflatables are extremely robust, but even the very best ones may puncture.
